Emerald City

Emerald City

Every year Pantone, a company that communicates accurate colors to many industries, comes out with a color that represents the year. This color is represented in every season and not just in clothing but in interior design, accessories, and other textiles. This year the color is Emerald Green. When I think of this color I think of the castle in the "Wizard of Oz." It is a bright green, that is one of those feel good colors and great for St. Patrick's Day. Pantone describes the color as "Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."

Some might think that styling Emerald might be challenging, on the contrary, it is a great color for a sophisticated look or a casual day out with friends. The Lush dress below is a great example of how emerald can be dressed up, add a skinny belt or gold chunky accessories for a evening look.

Today I wore my new cropped skinny emerald pants from Old Navy. I chose to wear them with a chambray button up and a geometric necklace. Other great colors to wear with emerald is navy, white, black, dark grey, gold, silver and if you want to go for a color block outfit try adding a bright purple. When adding accessories try a camel colored handbag and gold accessories.

Please excuse the car shot, but this is my chambray shirt and emerald skinnies

Lace for Day or Night

Lace for Day or Night

Some of the biggest names in fashion incorporated the lace detailing trend into their Spring 2013 runway shows. Just Cavalli, Oscar de la Renta, Carven, and Givenchy just to name a few. The lace trend is a versatile trend that can be sleek and lady like to a simple bathing suit cover up. Utilizing the lace trend is also a great way to wear another Spring trend: Textures. Mixing lace with leather, denim, tweeds, and faux furs will create an eye catching outfit. Don't forget lace comes in every color so pick a piece in a popular color for the season: pink tones, emerald green, red, royal blue, and yellow.

Balenciaga took the trend into separates by creating an oxford style lace top. This is also a great way to combine another Spring trend: pairing different textures together. Photo credit:elle.com

Christian Fashion Week - Tampa, Florida

The First Annual Christian Fashion Week

I am so proud to say that I was part of the first ever Christian Fashion Week in Tampa, Florida. The runway fashion show featured seven designers from all over the country including Sandra Hagen, Carmelita Couture, Franco Montoro, Julia Chew, Pat McGhee, Renee Scarborough, and Alma Vidovic. Their designs ranged from Renee's swimsuit wear to Alma's first ever bridal dress launch (so proud of her!). The best part about the show was since it was Christian related we proved that you didn't have to show so much skin in order to be stylish.

I was lucky enough to be the assigned stylist to Sandra Hagen's collection. Sandra is a local to Tampa and sells her pieces on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/people/sandrachagen). She was recently features in Italian Vogue for her designs. Her collection was 70s inspired with jail house stripes and so many textures being mixed together you couldn't help but fall in love with this collection. Sandra's creative looks paired neutrals, browns, reds, and oranges to create looks that everyone at the show went gaga over. Her hair and make-up was kept very simple to not take away from the outfits. For styling we added multiple shades of brown leather belts, bold vintage gold-tone rings, and a few brimmed floppy hats. And for my favorite part of the outfit the shoes, we stuck to neutral and brown colored wooden platforms. There was no need to add so many accessories because her outfits were so detailed. I also was co-styling with Sandra Davila. She was such an inspiration and I hope to be able to work with her again.

Below are some pictures from the Model for Jesus VIP Party and some backstage shots from Sandra Hagen's line.

Sweet Pink

One of my favorite trends this year is the pink girly trend. If you know me just about everything I own is some shade pink. You know when they say that when you wear a color you like it makes you feel good, well that’s pink for me. I’m obsessed, and what better way to let your love of pink show through this Spring trend. No shade is off limits here you can embrace bubblegum pinks, corals, neon’s, and rose tones. You can don this trend through a sheer (another trend for Spring) or high-low dress, a boyfriend or fitted blazer, cropped or skinny pants, or an above the knee floral skirt (another trend for Spring is floral prints). The sky is the limit when it comes to what would you can do.

Electric Spring Parade

Electric Spring Parade

Want a pop of color for spring? Try adding an electric, feel good color. There's nothing that makes you feel more confident than sporting your favorite hue in a vibrant shade. Runways from Rag & Bone to Gucci were showcasing fitted blazers, flowing maxi skirts, trendy trench coats, and lady like and drop waisted dresses in to die for fabrics. I am absolutely obsessed with this ensemble from Oscar de la Renta. The pink fitted "Jackie O" style jacket and feminine dress are detailed so perfectly. Stores like Forever 21, Gap, H&M, and Anthropologie are great stores with bright, trendy colors and pieces to help you create your perfect electric outfit.

Another great way to incorporate the brights into your look is through your make-up. Maybelle New York has a great eye popping colors in their Color Tattoo cream gel shadow line. Not to mention the color block heels and cap toe flats that would make everyone wish they had a pair. This pair of royal blue faux suede heels from Forever 21 are a perfect pair for any occasion, and with a price tag of only $32.80, you can't go wrong. I love Steve Madden for his edgy shoe designs and with his Dreamt cap toe flats with a price tag of $99.95 pink and orange will surely become your new favorite go to flats.

Black & White

Black & White

One of the hottest Spring 2013 trends is the black & white ensemble. It was showcased in Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, and Elizabeth & James runways. Dresses, pant suits, shorts, and tops are all encompassing the hottest trends for spring into the black & white look. Lace detailing, sheer fabrics, and stripes will be among the accents that are up scaling the black & white trend.

With this trend it is easy to sport a casual look or a more feminine polished look. Grabbing a black maxi skirt or skinnies with a plain white tank is a comfortable on the go outfit. Or dress it up with a peplum contrast dress like this one from Kay Unger for Nieman Marcus $450. This dress has a unique black contrast lacing on the fitted bodice accented by a ruffled peplum, and a black slimming pencil skirt. No need to add a a sky high heel, a simple leather or patent leather pump will do. If your shopping on a budget this Forever 21 peplum dress is quite the deal for only $22.80. Adding another trend for Spring: textures, this dress has a textured ruffled peplum bodice and a slimming pencil skirt.

When adding accessories keep the trend going with black and white bangles, cuffs, and drop earrings.
