New Year, Old Dress

I can't even believe that another New Year is upon us. I feel like everyone can agree that this year has flown by. Things have changed a lot this year. Some really exciting things have happened like weddings, engagements and promotions, even some more trying things. But it's all about overcoming these obstacles to be a stronger person.

I have always enjoy New Years. Getting to go out and be all glamorous. And of course having that kiss at midnight. I am looking forward to a great year!

I am am the type of person that waits to the last minute to find a dress for a big event. Then I end up settling on a dress that I just don't love. Ironically, a few years ago I was out the day before New Years looking for a dress and stumbled upon this one. I was running out of time and choices. I looked at the price tag and thought to myself I will just pay whatever the price, since I wasn't finding anything. To my surprise it was on clearance for $20! The dress Gods were on my side!

The Multi-Color Scarf

Sometimes you just got to keep things simple. My style is always all about comfort. My jeans always have stretch and my heels are usually wedges.

While I was pulling outfits for this shoot I came across this scarf. It is a black infinity with multi color specs on it. I am pretty sure I got this in Old Navy (most likely on clearance). I had forgotten about this scarf and when I saw it I thought that I would style an outfit around it.

Being fashionable to some people it is all about being comfortable and simplicity.

The Leopard Sweater

One of the best prints you can wear for the Fall and holiday season is leopard. It is easy to pair some cute brown boots for Fall or switch it up for the holidays and add a pop of red, like I did with this cute clutch.

Another great way to add this print to your wardrobe is either a scarf or some cute flats.

And don't be afraid to mix your black and brown together, it might have been a "fashion rule" back in the day to not mix them but time to break the rules!

The Faux Leather Jacket

If anyone has ever gone shopping with me they will tell you that when I see a great deal or and extra percentage off clearance I get heart palpitations. I love a good deal, the thrill of the hunt for that new amazing item at a "couldn't pass up" price.

I was at TJ Maxx the other day with my friend. It was crazy busy, all these people Christmas shopping and buying gifts. I didn't go in looking for anything specific. But I always find something, and this jacket was my amazing find.

I was juggling a few things while I was looking through the clothes. And when I came across this jacket I fell in love with the color. I don't have a red jacket in my wardrobe right now. I had a feeling that the price tag was going to be more than I wanted to spend. To my surprise it was a deal I couldn't pass up. The original tag said the MSRP was $98, the TJ Maxx tag said it was $19.99! And it was by a brand called Max Studio which usually runs between $19.99-$29.99 in TJX. You can also find a lot of their items in Nordstrom Rack.

I am absolutely in love with the new edition to my jacket collection!

The Cowl Neck Sweater

I remember the exact day I bought this sweater. It was Dec 24, 2011. I was working a shift at The Gap. I was waiting for my family to arrive in Tallahassee so that we could start to celebrate Christmas. I wanted a new top to wear on Christmas. I honestly don't even remember how much I paid for this sweater. I am usually pretty good at remembering. But it couldn't of been more than $20. I do recall it was on clearance.

I just love the deep teal jewel tone and the thick cowl neck. This top would be perfect to wear for any holiday parties or on those slightly chill days.

Buffalo + Western

Buffalo plaid is my favorite plaid for fall and winter. I love the edgy looks you can do with the black and red combo. When I saw the inspiration below on Pinterest I knew right away I could replicate it. So I headed straight to my closet and put this outfit together.

I love the way the medium colored denim jacket sits with the black and red. And adding the pop of brown with the clutch and boots. Don't you just love the western style boots too! And we all know that I love a denim jacket.
